We staan in het nieuws | Colombia and the Netherlands unite in Bogotá

On the evening before the official opening of Proflora 2025, representatives from the Colombian and Dutch floriculture sectors gathered in Bogotá for a special networking event. The evening was organized by Interandina Internacional, Denkers b.v. and Holland House Colombia, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Among the distinguished guests were Reina Buijs, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Leontine Crisson, Agricultural Counselor for Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador; Augusto Solano, President of Asocolflores; and Wilkien Ramírez, Deputy Director of Border Protection at ICA.

Connecting two flower nations
In her welcome speech, Diana Osorio, CEO of Interandina, emphasized the value of this annual gathering ahead of the fair. “It is an honor to host this integration and networking event once again, together with our partners from Denkers b.v., and with the support of the Dutch Embassy and Holland House. You are the reason our companies exist, and we are grateful for 49 years of trust and collaboration.” Diana highlighted that Interandina and Andina de Aduanas support nearly the entire volume of Colombian flower exports, while also being active in other sectors, ranging from avocados to spirits.

A flourishing relationship
Mark Woertman of Denkers b.v. spoke about the historical and economic ties between Colombia and the Netherlands. He underlined how the two countries complement each other: the Netherlands as a global leader in flower bulbs and technology, and Colombia as a major exporter of cut flowers. “We are not competitors, but partners,” Mark said. “Together, we bring beauty to the world, flower by flower. Denkers b.v. is proud to have been working with Interandina for 14 years, and it is here in Colombia that we celebrate our 40th anniversary.”
His words highlighted not only the trade relationship, but also the joint commitment to innovation and sustainability within the sector.

With a glass of wine in hand, growers, exporters, government officials, and logistics partners continued networking. The evening underscored the strength of collaboration between Colombia and the Netherlands.
