Nicolás Tobón: Makro Colombia's new CEO returns home
On March 23rd we visited the offices of our member Makro Colombia. During this visit we met Nicolas Tobon, their new CEO, who returned to Colombia after almost 5 years as Director of Sales and Operations of Makro Argentina. Nicolas is from Medellin and has worked for Makro since 1997, where he started as an intern for the organization. Over the past 27 years, he has developed a successful career with different positions in Colombia, Brazil and Argentina.
Makro is a wholesale chain that is part of the Dutch group SHV (Steenkolen Handels Vereeniging), which was created in 1968 in Amsterdam. In Latin America, the multinational currently has 23 stores in Brazil, 23 stores in Argentina, 22 in Colombia and 37 in Venezuela. After 27 years of presence in Colombia, Makro is to be found in 13 cities, with sales areas ranging between 4,000 and 9,900 square meters.
During this meeting with our Executive Director, Jan Willem van Bokhoven, we discussed the work that Holland House has been carrying out with Makro Colombia already for years and the strategies on which they will work together this 2023 to achieve the goals that the organization has for this year. Amongst these are the help with our Networking and strategic contacts, support in the branding strategy and brand positioning, institutional support, organization of important events for its market and supporting Makro in general, so that its presence in Colombia continues to grow, like it has done in the recent years.
