INALDE Alumni Agribusiness Mission to Mexico
From March 19 to 24 the second INALDE Alumni Agribusiness Mission took place, this time with destination to Querétaro, Mexico. The commission was formed by a group of 15 INALDE Alumni and was organized in collaboration with the company Sáenz Fety and with support of Holland House Colombia.
The mission revolved around the Greentech Americas 2023 fair, organized by Greentech Holland, during which the participants learned more about high-tech developments in the horticultural sector that are being implemented in Mexico with the help of innovative European technology.
The Alumni team also visited the Ceickor University Center, which offers university training in the engineering of protected agriculture and advanced technical training in protected crops. They also visited the Agropark High-Tech Greenhouse Cluster, a specialized agro-industrial park for greenhouses, a one-of-a-kind facility in the Americas.
Furthermore, business visits were also part of the mission, such as the visit to the facilities of Vilmorin-Mikado, a French-Japanese seed producer specialized in the development, production and sale of vegetable seeds.
They visited companies involved in the production, development, marketing and distribution of fresh and processed vegetable products, especially carrots, bell peppers and tomatoes, such as the company VillaSerre Quality Produce, which focuses on planting, production, marketing and export of agricultural products and services for the U.S. export market.
It is worth noting that these advances in technology and innovation are the result of the improvement of education and productivity in this sector, reflecting Mexico's commitment to sustain a highly competitive development. Furthermore, we would like to highlight the participation of the Vice Minister of Agriculture during the mission, who decided to participate in order to learn more about best practices within the horticultural production that could possibly be translated to the Colombian context.
